This session is designed to spread awareness of common disorders that impact reading. We will define Developmental Language Disorder (DLD) and Dyslexia as distinct conditions and identify the primary difference between a language-based struggle (DLD) and a word-level reading struggle (Dyslexia). Recognize the "Red Flags" and identify common "classroom indicators" for both DLD and Dyslexia in students, specifically focusing on how these struggles manifest in the classroom. Understand how a strong RTI-A system can help you address your concerns and determine when to provide additional support.
Is your data collection system working for you? In this session designed for special education and intervention teachers, you will learn how to design and implement effective data collection systems that support the whole child. Learn how to move beyond simple compliance to create meaningful, readable data that make a difference in your instruction, student success, and building strong relationships with parents. At the end, enjoy a gallery walk to explore different data systems and have an informal Q & A.
