FULL
Friday September 18, 2026 10:00am - 10:45am HST

Failure isn’t a flaw—it’s a feature of the learning and development process. Yet, many students are so afraid of being "wrong" that they stop trying. In this hands-on session, we’ll use the "Build fast, Fail fast" mantra to help establish the mentality that failing is an expectation, not something to avoid. We'll show how rapid prototyping with LEGO and systematic reflection can spark learning and creativity. This is where making mistakes is part of the fun!

Pack Your Peace: Supporting Social-Emotional Regulation in the Classroom
FULL
Friday September 18, 2026 10:55am - 11:40am HST
Limited Capacity full
Calming kits can play an important role in classrooms by giving students AND staff simple, accessible tools to manage stress, regulate emotions, and return to learning. Because they can be assembled with low-cost materials, they are practical for teachers working with limited budgets and can be made available to more students.

Some key benefits of a calming kit includes:

  1. Supporting emotional regulation
  2. Reducing classroom disruptions
  3. Promoting self-regulation skills
  4. Creating an inclusive learning environment
  5. Cost-effective for schools
  6. Encouraging independence
  7. Improving readiness to learn

Your LMW CARES team will help you create a practical, low-cost way to support students' social-emotional well-being. By providing simple tools that help students regulate their emotions, classrooms can become more focused, inclusive, and supportive learning environments while helping students develop lifelong coping and self-management skills.
